At any given track meet, the team slogans on the back of most team’s warm up suits are often as hilarious as they are motivational. Fans can expect to see anything from, “Run like you stole something” to, “Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.” Where on earth do these slogans come from, who approves them, and what is behind the major attitude displayed on the backs of so many teams? Team slogans for track and field are often funny, attitude laden and tough as nails. Let us get to the bottom of this athletic slogan trend.

Who Comes Up with These Things?

Team slogans for track and field are largely generated from the track team members themselves. Sometimes the team will think up a slogan for the entire season. On the other hand, sometimes a special slogan will be generated for a special meet or important occasion. Sometimes the team slogans are aimed at the other team, such as, “You can hide but you can’t run.” These slogans are meant to intimidate their opponents and give them an edge on the race. Other slogans are generated to foster team pride, such as, “The pride you gain is worth the pain.” No matter what the slogan’s aim, the fact that the whole team wears the same slogan on their backs is a unifying force that gives the team a sense of solidarity and helps them to function as one unit.

Who Approves the Slogans?

Often, the coach of any given track team is required to approve the team slogan before it goes to print. Team slogans for track and field do not undergo any censorship at the hands of track meet judges but the basic rules of propriety are enforced by their own coaches back at home. Sometimes, parents will be outraged by slogans that coaches let sneak by. In this case, the final say is the coaches but a parent can take the matter up with the head of athletics at their child’s school and if they do not feel that their voice has been heard, they can take the matter up with the school board or the PTA. Teams have been known to squeak through the censors with slogans such as, “Strap on a Pair”, but that is none too common an occurrence.

What is Behind a Slogan?

Team slogans for track and field are meant to express the spirit of each individual team. Most team slogans portray a team of runners that is willing to push past the pain, into victory. Some teams use their slogans to express a little bit of sass intermingled with their grit as with the team who’s t-shirts boasted, “Our mascara runs faster than you.” Some teams wax philosophical with their team motto, such as the team who boasts the slogan, “The oxen is slow but the earth is patient.” Perhaps this team has the strategy of confusing their opponent runners with their confusing slogan, and distracting them from the race at hand.
social media

I’d like to share one of the very first steps you must take if you want to become a successful six figure work at home mom.

It may sound simple, and to some it may even sound silly. But, I encourage you to take it very seriously.

Because in my experience, it is the NUMBER ONE step you absolutely must take.

And, it’s the major thing that held me back from earning six figures for many years.

And lastly, if you skip it, you could end up working very hard and still never get there.

What is that first step?

You Must Believe You Can Do It.

You absolutely must believe that you can earn six figures … that you and your skills are worth six figures and that
there is no reason on earth you shouldn’t be making six figures doing work you love.

I call this “managing your mindset” and mindset is the biggest reason people either get, or don’t get, what they want
in life.

Many of us were raised with beliefs that we weren’t good enough.

Or, that you have to work really hard to make a lot of money. Or, that money doesn’t grow on trees. Or, that “people like us”
don’t get rich. Or … okay you get the idea.

Looking back, I can see that I was extremely underpaid for many years. But I also know now that it was because I didn’t
think I was worth any more.

And, I had some pretty messed-up attitudes about money.

I always felt that I had to work really hard and that I had to prove my worth. It was almost like I had to justify my
paychecks and prove to the companies I worked for that they were getting their money’s worth.

I even realized a few years ago that I was STILL trying to prove to my dad that I was a success. And, I am 45 years old!

It wasn’t until I attended some seminars, and a friend (who was making multiple six figures at the time) suggested
I read a book, “Secrets of Six-Figure Women” by Barbara Stanny that I began to realize I had some major mind-set issues that were holding me back.

In fact, I would say that before that time, even though I was making a decent living, it never even entered my mind that
I could make six figures.

With the help of the seminars, my friend and that book, I realized I was not being paid nearly enough for the value
I was providing to my clients. My friend encouraged me to raise my consulting fees for all new clients and to re-negotiate my contract with my biggest client.

I was scared to death, but I went for it anyway.

Within six months, I had nearly doubled my income.

And, that year, I earned well over six figures. It was the first time I had broken through the six-figure ceiling and
I shattered it! I have to say it was FUN!

And more importantly, it was empowering.

Now I know that sounds quick and easy, and looking back, I am surprised how quickly it did actually happen. But this
was on the heels of some major personal development work and some big discoveries about my beliefs about money and what
I was worth.

The good news is, once I flipped the switch in my mind, and KNEW that I absolutely was worthy of earning six figures,
and I began acting accordingly (raising my fees, asking for more money), it did happen very quickly.

So my questions for you are …

What are your beliefs about money and your self-worth?

Do you REALLY believe you deserve to earn six figures?

Do you REALLY believe you CAN earn six figures?

And, do you have a positive attitude toward money?

You must master your mindset around these issues before you can conquer the 6figureWAHM world.

You absolutely must believe it is possible and that you are worth it.
edible favors
