Personality tests are not all about serious topics like the future of mankind, etc. We know they are used to determine the type of your personality, your skills and values etc. We also know that they can be used just for the sake of finding out what type of person you really are. Most important, personality tests are now used more and more to determine your aptitude for a certain type of occupation or career. But apart from all these ‘serious’ matters, personality tests also have a refreshingly lighter side to them.

If you are genuinely bored, try a different type of personality test – try some fun quizzes. They will tell you about your stress level, give a fair assessment of your health, decide if you have lost all your energy, and above all, let you know how you feel about love. All you have to do is to go online – there are lots of fun personality tests. Mind you, none of these tests will give you a definite answer on what you should do with your life. You should at best use them as a tool to generate informed guesses and consider them as an element of your overall career planning.

But all funny things may not be so funny. Most of these fun personality tests, even when looking seriously scientific, will tell you just what you want to hear only after you give them access to your email address. From that point on, you will be inundated with emails asking for money, telling you there’s more in your future, etc. Stay away from over involvement — it only leads to aggravations.
cheap wedding favors

We have a family run gas station on the corner by our house and i have been hired to begin part time work this Monday. The manager asked me to stop in quickly on Friday to pick up my schedule for the week. I stopped in as I was on my way to the cities for a weekend trip with my mom and needless to say I was dressed in very casual clothing, pj bottoms and a hoodie. Seeing as I was not coming in for an interview, just to pick up my schedule, a quick 5 minute stop, I didn’t figure I was required to dress up and get “pretty.” The owner happened to be there and said,

“I suppose you will be dressing better and look pretty when you come into work.”

He walked away without me being able to explain that I was simply picking up my schedule on the way to begin a 4 hour drive that i would prefer to be comfortable for. The money would help, but is not needed to provide for my family, and I DO NOT want to work in an environment such as this,he seemed very out of line. What would you do?
About the Author:

There are several reasons why you, as a breastfeeding Mom, will want to avoid or limit artificial nipples. Avoid Triple Nipple Syndrome if you want to nurse your baby for that important first year (or longer!).

Using artificial nipples, meaning supplemental bottles and pacifiers, reduces the time your baby spends at the breast. Time spent nursing at the breast tells your body how much milk to make, meaning that using artificial nipples can reduce supply.

Artifical nipples may lead to nipple confusion, which means a difficulty transitioning from bottles to the breast and back. Some babies get nipple confusion, and some don’t. Some babies will flat out reject the breast after having one bottle. Some babies can have a supplemental bottle and go back to Mom, and some will refuse the bottle altogether.

However, studies show that using artificial nipples increases the likelihood that baby will wean before one year. So, wait until breastfeeding is well established and your supply is adequate for baby’s needs before introducing artificial nipples, and even then, limit their use.

Using a supplemental bottle of formula when you think your milk supply is low can be a Catch 22 because giving baby a bottle can further lessen the milk supply. If you want to increase your milk supply, the best way to do so is to increase the number of times you offer your breast to the baby, or increase the time spent at the breast. When baby is going through a growth spurt you may want to reduce your activities as much as possible for a day or two and spend more time in skin to skin contact with baby. Your body will send more milk because of the increased demand.

As a side note, the American Academy of Pediatrics recently issued a statement saying that pacifiers can reduce SIDS risk. Interestingly, breastfeeding also reduces the risk of SIDS. Some breastfeeding experts have noted that it is the sucking, not the pacifier itself, that keeps baby stimulated at night which helps him “remember” to breathe.

While it’s not for every family, the practice of Co Sleeping or Sharing Sleep, helps Mom and Dad get more sleep, helps Mom have a hearty milk supply and makes night feedings easier.

Families all over the world (in fact, most of the world’s population) share sleep with babies quite safely, and happily too and have been doing so since the beginning of time!
About the Author:

Last year I taught special-ed (emotionally draining at times), took a full load in school, and served as PTA president. I am generally a multi-tasker and can handle my four children (and their activities) and husband as well as my other responsibilities with ease. Well…..it has become increasingly difficult since my husband is now working out of town A LOT! He helped so much with the baby that I was able to do the little things without interruption..like cook, clean, and bathe.
We have discussed (and agreed) to have someone take care of cleaning the house a few times a month as well as hiring someone to tend to our landscaping. HERE’S my dilemma. I resigned from work for the year in order to complete my Master’s….and now I feel guilty at the thought of someone cleaning up after my family and dealing with things that I feel are MY responsibility…especially since I am not working. I have yet to hire anyone…..and my husband will return from out of town this evening and wonder why I have not done so. Am I feeling overly guilty for nothing? Or am I shirking my own responsibilities?
The Fall semester will begin in a week and I am not looking forward to the 24-7 shuffle from the university to the babysitter to school a to school b to school c to karate to football to another football game to a pta meeting to the babysitter to the university to home and so on. Another side note and yes…I realize I am sounding very whiny right now….I am miserable when the house is not clean! It is just about the only thing that can put me in a grouchy mood. So, I guess the question is, have you ever found yourself in a similar situation…and what did you do?
follow wedding_favors

When your child shows signs of potty training readiness, it’s time to purchase some essential potty training items. There are many new products which can help to make potty training quick and easy for both you and your child. We have researched all of the latest and most effective potty training products.

Here, you’ll find a number of new potty training aids [http://www.zipbaby.com/catalog/?cPath=21], such as the Tinkle Toonz musical potty or the anatomically correct drink & wet dolls that can be used with Dr. Phil’s potty training method [http://www.zipbaby.com/potty-training-articles-drphil.php]. Be sure and browse through our selection of 2005 potty training books and DVDs, which provide a great introduction for both parents and children.

The important thing is to begin potty training with the right training products and information, to ensure your child has a positive experience from beginning to end. Don’t wait until you and your child are frustrated to buy a fun musical potty chair or read a bedtime potty training book.

After you have purchased the potty training products, begin introducing the idea of potty training by reading a book or watching a DVD. Place you child’s new potty chair in the bathroom and let him observe you going potty. Children learn by imitating other family members. This is a good time to teach him good hygiene by washing your hands after using the potty.

Be sure your child knows that he can come to you if he feels uncomfortable or afraid. He needs to know that you will always love him, even if he has accidents. For tips on handling accidents, read our article, Handling Accidents with Composure.

Copyright ? 2004 ZIP Baby.
Weell. This is kinda funny, but it wasn’t really funny when it was happening.
My class (2nd Period) was in Science/Social Studies, and we were finished Science and were about to do History. (We were getting into Britain and the Colonies, taxes, rules, and all that stuff)
So suddenly our teacher says we have to plan our class party. Each table like made a plan and then we would vote on it.
So, of course we were really excited. We were doing all kinds of parties, Valentine’s, Friday the 13th and whatever.
Then the Vice Principal (Ms. Bailey) comes in and she’s like the nice but really strict type, and here we are arguing and voting over parties.
lol.
so Mrs. Granger (our teacher, really nice and fun and pretty young) and explains we’re planning a party and she says “Well you might wanna read this.”
So she reads it aloud.
“Due to problems with student-planned parties at a nearby school, the PTA has come up with the following restrictions:
All parties will last 30 minutes during lunch (we had 5 hour parties in the works)
Parties will be held in the classroom (we planned stuff like crazy laserzone parties and whatnot)
No junk food (only veggies, pretzels, and juice etc. will be accepted)
(we had pizza, soda, cake, and omgg so much stuff planned)
And only games that are educational and approved by the PTA will be allowed (such as Pin the Tail on the Donkey)
By that time everyone was groaning and whining and some even cussing (just kidding lol XD)
And then Mrs. Granger drops the bomb on us.
“So, I guess we can’t have our party after all.”
Then we explode. lol.
Ms. Bailey and Mrs. Granger burst into laughter. “We got you! hahahahahahahahaha!”
omg. then she explains that it was all part of the lesson.
the colonist ppl could do whatever they wanted (like us) before the British came along and taxed and restricted everything (like Ms. Bailey lol)
so i guess it was a pretty good lesson.
BUT
some ppl wanted to play a prank back on her.
they were going to wrap up a box and make it all pretty and put “From Your 2nd Class” on it and just fill it with tissue paper.
lol.
should we? :S
Thanks for reading all of this, by the way.

Today’s volatile economic environment and expected layoffs means that many people will be searching for a new job. For many of you, a U.S. government job can offer security, excellent benefits, and interesting work. But be aware: competition for these jobs is intense and you have to stand out from all the other applicants to get a placement – that is where the KSA becomes a key opportunity you can use to get that government job.

What is a KSA?

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management maintains a searchable database, called USAJOBS that lists government job openings. Once you have signed up on line, you will find that specific position openings often require completion of a detailed description of your Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) in addition to your resume.

Each job that requires a KSA will have specific KSA questions for you to answer usually in about a page of written content. This is not an optional task. You must do it and you must do it well. Each KSA answer is scored by human resources personnel on a 0-20 scale that reflects how closely your knowledge, skills, and abilities match the complexity, impact, variety, circumstances, and interactions that characterize the job for which you are applying. KSAs are frequently the deciding factor in your evaluation for employment in the U.S. government. So, what are KSAs? According to the CDC’s Help Page on KSAs:

Knowledge statements refer to an organized body of information usually of a factual or procedural nature which, if applied, makes adequate performance on the job possible. A body of information applied directly to the performance of a function.

Skill statements refer to the proficient manual, verbal or mental manipulation of data or things. Skills can be readily measured by a performance test where quantity and quality of performance are tested, usually within an established time limit. Examples of proficient manipulation of things are skill in typing or skill in operating a vehicle. Examples of proficient manipulation of data are skill in computation using decimals; skill in editing for transposed numbers, etc.

Ability statements refer to the power to perform an observable activity at the present time. This means that abilities have been evidenced through activities or behaviors that are similar to those required on the job, e.g., ability to plan and organize work. Abilities are different from aptitudes. Aptitudes are only the potential for performing the activity.

How should you answer KSA questions to improve your chances of getting a government job?

The most effective answers to the KSA questions reflect your understanding of the job requirements based on detailed analysis of the job description and typical tasking. You should pay careful attention to the key words used in the job description and use those words in describing your knowledge, skills and abilities.

In general, knowledge is more abstract than skills and therefore can be generalized over many different tasks and responsibilities. Knowledge comes from academic and life experiences including, but not limited to, education and employment. Any knowledge that you possess that is pertinent to the job you are seeking is something you should include in your the KSA response.

It is a good idea to brainstorm by yourself and with others, what “knowledge” you should claim because you can demonstrate it via your written answers. For example let’s say the position requires “being able to organize a project”. Although your work experience did not provide the opportunity to manage a project, your experience running the PTA’s funding raising for a year, although an unpaid activity, could legitimately be claimed as “experience managing a project”. It is up to you to describe the knowledge you acquired in a way that translates to the job for which you are applying.

Think of skills as capabilities that can be tested i.e., understanding how a spreadsheet program can help manage a budget is knowledge; being able to create an Excel spreadsheet to track expenses is a skill. Extract skill requirements from the job posting and offer evidence that you possess those skills. For example, the position of Pharmacy Assistant requires knowledge demonstrated by certified training and skills acquired from previous experience handing drugs and working with customers.

How to write an effective KSA response

In responding to KSA questions, you are making assertions about your knowledge, skills, and abilities. You must then backup those assertions with believable evidence. You need to develop your KSA responses with an eye on two key variables: relevance of content and quality of presentation. The National Forest Service provides an excellent tutorial on do’s and don’ts of writing effective KSA responses.

Describe your knowledge, skills, and abilities in terms that tie directly to the job using keywords that you extract from the job posting. Then “prove” by specific examples what you can do because of what you did in the past and the context in which you did it. Put your compliance with key job requirements at the beginning of the appropriate KSA answer or the beginning of a paragraph. For example: If the job requires a degree in accounting, the first place you can say clearly, “I completed my accounting degree at XYZ University” do it; then continue to describe your experience in accounting tasks.

Numbers can be your friend when it comes to providing proof to your reviewers. Instead of saying, “I wrote reports” consider saying, “I prepared monthly reports on six field trials with a lead time of two days”.

Knowledge and skills can also be demonstrated by using an overview of your previous responsibilities with examples of specific tasks, by describing training or certifications you received, and by citing awards or recognition for accomplishments. Reviewers like to see action words in your KSA answers and that requires that you write in an active versus a passive voice. You should say: “I analyzed data …” not “Data was analyzed”. You can find a great list of action verbs at Job Skills – Power verbs.

In conclusion your KSA answers must:

? Be concise

? Be relevant

? Be specific

? Have quantitative examples

? Make it easy for reviewers to find your compliance with key job requirements

? Be action and accomplishment oriented

? Be well written with NO TYPOs and good sentence construction. It is a good idea to have someone else look over your answers before you send them because it is sometimes difficult to see your own mistakes.

Remember, KSA answers separate those who are qualified for a job from those who are most qualified.

seo

Whether you are being laid off or you are quitting your job, you must be prepared before you can make it happen. Unfortunately there are times when we can’t be prepared, but if you can it will make things so much easier both financially and mentally.

Financial readiness may be a little bit difficult, but you can make it work if you want to and if you put your mind to it. Of course, you may have to give some things up or you may have to change some things in order for it to work, but you can do it.

Some things can’t be done until the time comes, but others can. If it’s possible, you should prepare yourself as much as you can before the day arrives. Again it really depends on your situation as to what you do and how you do it.

Here are some things you can do to prepare yourself in advance for your big day.

1.	Write out a list of all your bills and how much you owe for each. Also write down the monthly payment amount and the interest rate if you have one.

2.	Write down your current income. This should include any money you have coming in from a business if you are working one at this point.

3.	The best way to prepare yourself for this is to do your best to make larger payments on bills so you can get them paid off. Sometimes that is not possible because you owe so much, but do the best you can. If you do have bills will really large balances, you might consider sticking that extra money in a savings account so you will have it to fall back on while you are growing your business.

4.	Use eBay and garage sells to your advantage. If you have things you can get rid of consider selling them on eBay or have a garage sell. This is a great way to clean your home and make some extra cash.

5.	Start making changes with your finances now so you will be prepared when the time comes. Start trimming your costs at the grocery store, gasoline, and anything else you can.

6.	Cutting your grocery bill may be easier than you think. Cut coupons, plan meals so you don’t go out as often, and plan your meals around what is on sell. For example if hamburger is on sell, plan meals that contain hamburger instead of chicken.

Those are just a few of the ways you can cut costs. You can also lower your cable or satellite package or remove it all together, remove features from your home phone or get rid of it if you have a cell phone with good coverage and a good plan, and figure out ways to lower you monthly bills for your electric and/or gas for the heat and lights.

If you have a contract on something it may cost a penalty fee to cancel. Sometimes taking that penalty may be worth it in the long run. Make sure you take the time to figure that out because it may be less expensive than you think. To do this, you’ll need to calculate the monthly cost for this and then multiple that number by the number of months you have left and see if that number is higher than the penalty. If it’s not, try to find a way to come up with the penalty amount. You might also call and ask if they will make payment arrangements with you if you choose to cancel and take the penalty. If you explain the situation you are in, they may be a little more lenient.

Frugal living isn’t a bad thing when you think about it. It really depends on how you look at it and what you make of it. If you want to become a full time WAHM, you will have to make sacrifices. Look at the ultimate reason why you want this for you and your family. When you do this you will have a better outlook on your plan and it will make it easier to work.
About the Author:

You’re a WAHM (work at home mom or dad) right? So, let me tell you why I am asking if you think you are an entrepreneur. Most of us tend to think of entrepreneurs as being sharp-suited, fast talking people who deal in large sums that read like telephone numbers.

Yet the truth is this: if you sell products or services, particularly where you buy cheaply then sell at a higher price, then you ARE an entrepreneur.

Just because you think of yourself as being a work at home mom (WAHM), it doesn’t mean that you are not an entrepreneur. If you buy something and sell it at a profit, or if you make something and sell it at a profit, that makes you an entrepreneur.

OK you may only have a small home based business, but the object of ANY business is to make a profit and provide income for it’s principals, isn’t it?

So lets get serious, you are an entrepreneur and as such you need to organize your business to make a profit (otherwise its just a hobby) and to do that you must pay attention to your pricing. If you make something to sell, you must factor in the cost of your time – you could be earning money elsewhere otherwise.

Next you need to examine the marketplace to see what is actually in demand then promote your product or service accordingly.

You will not make a profit if no-one wants to buy what you’re offering; similarly neither will you if no-one is aware of your products or services.

Many of the people who make a good living on eBay for instance, do so by buying products to resell. You can do this by picking up poorly advertised or mis-spelled items from other eBay sellers; buy buying at offline auctions, or by using the ‘drop-ship’ services. If you’re not sure what these are, I’ll explain them in another article soon.

One of the favorite types of item to sell, because its quite easy and there is an ever-growing demand, is information products – mainly e-books – on just about any topic you can think of. You can write these yourself or buy other people’s work with a resale license.

Approach your home business seriously, use the work at home tips and information available on hundreds of websites all over the internet and be prepared to ditch anything that doesn’t make you some money.

When you do all that, you’ll know that you really ARE an entrepreneur! You don’t have to be sharp suited or fast talking, but you DO have to think PROFIT.
About the Author:

Let’s face it changing diapers is not much fun and you long to start potty training. However, this is something that can’t be rushed. You have to be sure your child is ready. If you push the issue it usually ends in tears and frustrations (could be both yours and your child).

There is no golden rule that says you must begin potty training at a particular age. All children are individual. Also potty training boys can often begin later than girls and it can take longer. This article will help you evaluate whether your child is ready.

Some level of communication skills is vital. Does the child understand the meaning of basic words such as wash, dry, wet, clean, dirty, stand and sit? Can they understand and follow simple instructions such “pick up the bricks and put them in the toy box”? Or do they need added guidance or repeated instructions? Are they able to communicate their needs to you? Do they mainly point and say a few words (and you guess or interpret the rest) or can they string some meaningful words together, perhaps even sentences?

You want to see some sign that the child’s bowel and urinary control functions are developing. Does the diaper need changed every one/two hours or is the child able to go two/three hours or longer without soiling the diaper.

Is your child able to sit quietly? For instance, if you were to read a story would they sit and listen attentively or would they fidget, ignore you or even wander off after a few minutes? What you are looking for is a consistent pattern not the odd occasion when they are restless.

How independent is the child? Can they do some tasks all by themselves, such as pulling up their pants? Or do they need adult assistance?

Your answers to the above questions will help you decide whether your child is ready for potty training. Remember, you should answer truthfully not give an answer you think you should.

Make no mistake about it, potty training boys and girls can be a stress free experience for both you and your child if you start when the child is ready and not before!
About the Author:
