There are many ways to advertise without putting out a lot of cash. Use these tips to your advantage. Modify them and make them your own. Just remember that the only way to succeed with your business is to do something.

No one has ever found success by doing nothing.

1. Put your website on notepads, pens, newsletters, bumper stickers, coffee cups.

2. Flyers – When you buy your morning newspaper, slip some flyers into the rest of the newspapers.

3. Business cards (You can make up your own or get them free through VistaPrint)

4. Article marketing is one of my favorite method of advertising. If you write articles and then use a service to publish them, your articles become viral.Your articles will spread like a virus and could have the potential to be viewed by hundreds of thousands of people.

5. Participating in online discussion forums is an excellent way to get the word out about your business – and it is free. Build relationships first and use your signature file to let everyone know what you do and who you are.

6. Free classifieds

7. Targeted ezine advertising is one of the most cost effective ways to advertise your business.

8. Paid ads – such as solo ads. Test, test, test. Your success depends on your ad and your heading!

9. Mail out postcards.

10. Purchase leads that are targeted and related to your business. If possible get their phone number and followup.

11. Bookmarks for libraries, don’t forget to talk to your librarian first.

12. Purchase cheap seed packets, put a tag on them with your website as well as a saying like, I am in the business of helping people grow.

13. Use your knowledge and publish a newsletter or ezine. One your build up your list you can offer paid subscriptions or ads.

14. Word of mouth (friends and family)

15. Forwarded emails – Add your testimony to your signature line.

16. Buttons

17. Pens to hand out with a short advertisement and your URL.

18. Welcome baby cards for hospitals.

19. If your domain name is a string words, try capitalizing each. This helps people who just take a quick glance remember it.

20. Create an information type handout that briefly explains your business.

21. When you go to a garage or yard sale, ask if you can leave a few of your flyers there.

22. Community Colleges. Every student needs a part time job.

23. Put a business card in all outgoing mail including anything that has a postage paid envelope.

24. Visit establishments you do business with (doctor offices, health food stores, karate/dance studios, etc) and ask if you can leave flyers.

25. Car magnets – You can put magnets all over your car.

26. Promote your business for free in local magazines, newspapers, community newsletters, etc. Many rely on voluntary writing contributions. Translate your knowledge into an article. It is free advertising and an effective way to establish yourself as an expert in your field.

27. Leave your business card in restrooms at restaurants or on cork boards around grocery stores.

28. Get a booth at school events and share what you offer.

29. Look into putting an ad in school sponsored publications (directories, PTA booklets, etc). Usually not to expensive.

30. Set up a free giveaway box in any store that will give you permission.

31. Post flyers at apartment complexes if they will allow it.

32. Place flyers under windshield wipers of cars.

33. Newspaper classified ads are cheap and effective. Ask about having your ad appear with a color background to make it stand out even more.

34. Buy a pre-inked, personalized stamp and put your ad on it. Stamp the back of any envelopes that you mail out.

35. When it comes to advertising and marketing, repetition plays an important part in your campaigns success.

36. We all get junk mail with the postage paid envelopes. Just send a flyer back to the company and use their return envelope.

37. Personalized T-shirts

38. Make up Gift basket raffles for Church bazaars, concerts held during summer, at your local community hall, or any town function. Do not forget to put your business card or some other advertisement in the basket.

39. Put flyers on car windshields at your kids sporting events.

40. Leave a business card with your tip for your waiter/waitress.

41. Reply to spam email with your own business advertisement.

42. Give your business cards to friends and family and ask them to give them out to people they know who would be interested in part time income.

43. Put up flyers at the local colleges, libraries and grocery stores.

44. Ask your local chinese takeout if you can post a flyer in their window.

45. Create a post it stack of your business cards with a glue stick and then post them at pay phones, etc.

46. Business cards with a magnetic back really stick in people’s minds as well as on their refrigerator.

47. Leave business cards by the change machine in the mall arcade or at the ATM machine.

48. Put your website address on your sun visor using vinyl letters.

49. Find an old metal tin (or new), put a magnet on the back, put your business cards in them and then just attach this to your car when you go into a store.

50. Be different and get noticed. When you are unique then you are one step ahead of your competition.

There are many ways to promote your business without spending a fortune. Think outside the box. Most people notice things that are different, something that draws their attention or even makes them laugh.

Keep it simple, keep it cheap and before you know it your success will be achieved without going broke.

Copyright 2007 Joe Rispoli
wedding gifts

Everyone in your Town Creek Subdivision knows you. You wave to them as you come home from work.

You’ve got lots of friends. One guy takes his new Remington rifle to hunt with you in the Fall. Another likes to come over to watch your favorite NFL team on your Magnavox 52″ HD TV.

You and your wife attend the PTA meetings because of your kids. You see everyone at Deerfield Community Church on Sunday. You coach the Little League baseball team.

You know it’s essential to meet lots of people to get ahead in your business, so you are a member of the Civitan Club and go to monthly luncheons. You meet clients for a cup of coffee at Starbucks to get better acquainted.

But are you personally branded in your hometown?

In the foregoing paragraphs are the branded names of Town Creek Subdivision, Remington, NFL, Magnavox, PTA, Deerfield Community Church, Little League, Civitan, and Starbucks.

These names are branded, but are you?

Do folks in your town know you, like these branded names?

How many people in town actually know you?

Are there 500 or 5000?

How much more income could you earn if you had the same branding as those branded businesses and institutions?

Corporate branding is essential to business.

Rolex is so branded, that you wouldn’t think of buying a Rolex watch at a discount store. Or, a Rolls Royce.

“Coke” is so branded from over a century of marketing and advertising that even a picture of that little curve-shaped bottle without seeing the logo communicates the brand instantly!

Personal branding, like corporate branding, is also critically important to every professional, entrepreneur, and small business. But most don’t know how to achieve it, or think the cost is prohibitive. Most of the self-employed have never dared to imagine that they too could become indelibly stamped in the public mind like the national brands.

Without a second thought of hesitation, we all know that television is the single most influential branding venue in the world. If you can be seen constantly on TV – either locally or nationally, you will become branded! TV branding is how any national icon is born!

But the restrictive, limiting factor in TV branding is the cost of TV marketing and advertising.

Gunthy-Renker raked in $1.5 Billion in sales last year creating TV infomercials at a cost of up to $425,000 each. The most successful of the infomercials who branded themselves on TV last year was the George Foreman Grill, that sold 65 million products.

The “cause-effect” of corporate branding is readily apparent.

Personal branding, or self-branding, also enjoys the same “cause-effect” relationship as corporate branding. Now, for the first time, personal branding, like corporate branding, can be effected with repetitive exposure on TV as inexpensive as the cost of a newspaper classified ad! Now with the assistance of the Internet, efficient use of TV branding can be combined with a web site for extremely inexpensive personal branding. “Triggered Markets,” even niche markets, sparked with prime-time commercials and night-time TV airings can be linked to an Internet site that can “tell the story” necessary for self-branding. FCC-mandated “leased access” stations and “selective area” cable networks can brand your image and your service or product on TV for less than the cost of newspaper ad.

The most powerful venue ever available for branding – as with a “scorching red-hot branding iron” seared in the mind of public awareness – can now linked with the Internet to provide personal self-branding that was once only affordable to the corporate giant.
search at google

Braniacs Need Not Apply

My ex husband used to complain that there was not a topic in existence that I did not have a comment or some knowledge on (but then again he never tried talking to me about sports). The one thing he could never understand was that as a bibliophile, it is absolutely necessary for me to read something new every day.

I was raised in a household where my mom was a school-teacher that opted out of the workforce to be a SAHM, and my dad was an electrical engineer and a military man. Both took great pleasure in tormenting my sister and me with word games. “Mommy, what’s for dinner?” Her answer would be “food.” Anytime there was another meaning to a phrase that my sister and I would ask Mom and Dad would take the opposite meaning than what we had asked. Jill and I would rack our brains to find different phrasing on questions and statements in order to get our point across, a quest that inevitably had us turning to the encyclopedia or a dictionary.

The point in the exercise was to help us to expand our communication skills, (or maybe it was to get us out of their hair). Ultimately we were not expected to know every existing word in the English language, but we were expected to know where to go to find the answers. To this day, I still cringe when I see someone playing the word definition search in Reader’s Digest.

I work with new Entrepreneurs and Business owners all the time. One of the biggest obstacles in working with this enterprising group; is convincing them that they do not have to know everything, nor do they need someone on staff that knows everything. What is important is that as a professional, you know WHERE to find the answers.
Inevitably I will be working with a client and get a question about the layout of their website, or how to correct a subscription issue. My answer every-time… “This is a Will question” or whoever the expert is for that particular team. I do not need to know how to work everything about every aspect of my business.

Just like it is not necessary for you to understand the intricacies of how the electrical current keeps your computer, modem and the rest of your network running. You do need to know that you need electricity, and that in order for technology to work, you have to have access to it, and how to use it safely. The same with your business, your “power source” is not just the knowledge you have, but your ability to find the correct answers to the questions that are going to be asked.

One way to insure you have answers available is to make sure you have strong pillars. What is your network; who are your pillars for success? Take a piece of paper, and divide it in half lengthwise then in half again. On the top left hand corner make a list of your strengths, (be honest folks, if you can’t do it now, then it goes on the don’t list it). On the opposite side make a list of your weaknesses. Under your strengths list the people/services you know who could use these services, under your weaknesses list people/services you know are good in these areas.

Do you see anything that is trainable? Do you see strengths you can teach to others, or weaknesses you can learn from others? This is your opportunity chart; use it to help you develop your team and networks. Remember it is not necessary for you to know all the answer, only where to find them.
deals on amazon

So you’ve decided to start an at home business. Or maybe you’ve already taken the plunge and signed on with a promising company. You’ve heard many wonderful success stories and would love to someday be able to give your own positive testimonial. But you’ve also heard tales of home businesses failing miserably. You definitely don’t want your business to fall into the failure category!

But there is good news! Although no one can predict with one hundred percent accuracy the success or failure of an at home business, there are certain steps you can take to better ensure that the scale will tip in the direction of success.

Here are the first eight of those small steps, which focus mainly on the overall vision you have for your business. Part two will cover more specific areas to target.

1. Have a vision. Having an overall vision for your business is the first step in entrepreneurial ladder. Put simply, a vision is seeing the bigger picture. Take some time to think of your business from the beginning to the end. Where are you now and where do you hope to be in, say, five years from now? Is this a business you want to maintain only for a while when the kids are young or do you want it to continue for the next twenty years and possibly pass it on to someone else someday?

2. Be Passionate. If you’re only half-convinced that starting this business is the right thing to do, you largely increase your chance of failing. Success requires one hundred percent commitment, especially in the beginning. Passion is what sells your product. Passion is what draws people to your business. Passion is what keeps you going when the going seems to be going nowhere.

3. Set goals. Both short and long term goals are necessary to achieve new levels in your business. Once you meet a particular goal, set a new one to motivate you and give you a sense of direction, not to mention satisfaction when you reach the goal you’re striving for.

4. Do your homework. You may cringe at the word, “homework” or “research,” but the fact is, when starting a business, the more you do the better chance for success. Research everything from what office supplies you’ll need to purchase to income tax laws. Being prepared at the start for every aspect of your business will only benefit you in the long run.

5. Discipline. When distractions come, you need to be able to either ignore them or handle them quickly and get right back to work without letting it affect your productivity. Discipline is probably the number one struggle people face when working from home. It’s not always easy. But it’s necessary to achieve the success you desire.

6. Keep an open mind. Willingness to learn is a key element of success. Successful people always do whatever they can to learn new strategies and ways they can increase and expand their business.

7. Focus on your strengths. We all have certain things we’re exceptionally good at. Find those attributes in yourself and put them to good use. While it’s great to improve on your weaknesses, and running your own business will certainly require you to utilize those areas, spending too much time on the things that don’t come naturally to you will only hold you back. When you focus on those areas in which you excel, you’ll make the most of your time and your efforts will pay off.

8. Perseverance and Determination. When challenges come (and they will!) perseverance is a must. The ability to press on when your business seems to be at a stand still or has reached a plateau will pay off. There’s nothing like working through those times you feel like giving up and then reaping the rewards on the other side.

You’re on your way towards building a successful business. Be sure to read part two for six more specific areas to target in your quest for success.

premium themes for wordpress

Working at home during the summer creates challenges for the WAHM. As the summer begins, there’s a lot to keep the kids entertained and give Mom time to work on her business. As the summer progresses, however, choruses of ‘Mom I’m bored’ ring out, causing otherwise mild mannered Moms to throw up their hands in complete desperation; right before they start planning an escape route.

Moms can’t escape for too long however, and kids have an uncanny knack of finding the hiding spot anyway. So what can you do to keep your business in tact during the summer months when the cherubs are effectively running the show?

How flexible are you? No, I don’t mean can you play a mean game of Twister while baking a pan of blueberry muffins, but rather, how willing or able are you to adjust your normal work at home day to meet the ever changing demands of tireless children?

Leslie Spencer, founder of Home Based Working Hom, suggests using a laptop with a wireless internet connection. You’ll be a mobile mom, able to take your work anywhere your kids go.

Planning and preparation will make your life less stressful. Before summer vacation begins, do some research to find local youth programs being offered and enroll your kids. Make lists of ‘things to do’ and have ready all of the needed supplies so your school age kids can entertain themselves.

Be realistic. Come to terms with the fact that you may not be as productive during the summer, and schedule your work to make the best use of your time.

Summer challenges for WAHMs do not have to cripple your business. Find local groups and activities for your kids to participate in and remember, time with your kids will pass all too soon, and summer vacation is just one part of WAHM life.

wine reviews

One of the best, and simplest, ways to start a Wahm business online is to become a seller on one of the several online auction sites. Ebay is the most popular, and most widely recognized. However, sellers are also having success on Yahoo auctions, Overstock auctions and many others. Being an online auction seller has many benefits for a Wahm. You can run your business from your home. You can set up auctions to automatically list at certain times of the day, so you don’t always have to be at the computer. Plus, there is guaranteed traffic to the auction website which makes it simple to get new customers.

Before you start an online auction business you should decide whether or not you have the skills or willingness to do so. Although there is a lot of money to be made in auctions, there are also a lot of challenges. As a successful auction Wahm, you need to have the tenacity to try different things to increase you sales. You must also have knowledge of what the market wants so you can provide in demand products that will sell. Money management is a must, since selling on an auction is typically a home-based business. You will be in charge of the finances of the business and need to be responsible for keeping your business and personal finances separate.

Online auction businesses are very simple to start. To start an ebay business, for example, all you need is a registered account with ebay, and a paypal account. The ebay account will allow you to perform transactions on their website. The paypal account will allow you to accept payment for items that you sell, as well as pay for the ebay fees. Although you can technically take payments through check or money order, using paypal makes the process a whole lot faster and more enjoyable for your customers.

The fees involved with running an ebay business are minimal compared to having your own store on a separate website. While hosting for a website can cost upwards of $20 per month, ebay only charges you a small percentage of the items that you sell. There are also some other minimal fees involved, and most sellers work those fees into their listing price.

Before you decide to sell on an auction site as a business, try a buying from the auction site first. Understand the process from the buyer’s point of view. Take note of how you are treated by the seller and ask yourself what you would do differently. Buying before selling is also a good method because you can build feedback in the auction site system. Feedback is left whether you buy or sell, so building some feedback as a buyer is a good idea. A positive feedback record will make you more appealing as a seller.

Finding items to sell is the biggest perceived problem with selling on auction sites. However, you can start with items from around your home. Look in your closets and in your garage for items that can be sold on the auction sites. You will be surprised by what people will buy. Selling from around your home will give you experience with the selling process and will build positive selling feedback.

Familiarize yourself with the auction process before you begin selling. Remember to start your business small and let it develop as you become more confident in your auction selling abilities.

sell excess wedding stuff

Do you realize how many businesses out there are perfect companions to YOUR business? Scrapbookers are everywhere and usually in groups in the same places. There are also lots of businesses who would benefit from a partnership with you as much as you would benefit from a partnership with them.

Cross-promoting products and services is an excellent marketing strategy. You basically combine forces with another business in a different, yet complimentary, industry and reap the benefits.

You BOTH have customer lists, yet different lists. Enlist the power of both sets of customers.

Here are some suggestions for cross-promotional activities. I would love to see a discussion at ScrapBiz with some more ideas.

You+ the School Photographer: How many moms would love to have a premade page to buy or a page kit with custom die-cuts of the school name or grade? Give the photographer a cut of your profits in exchange for advertising your product.

You + the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). My local PTA put out a pamphlet at the beginning of the year with all the local businesses who offered discounts to Penny Creek Elementary PTA members. There wasn’t a single scrapbook business on that list! What if YOUR BIZ was there?! I don’t even think you have to pay to be on the list because the list stimulates membership for the PTA.

You + local camera or frame shop: In a recent edition of a scrapbook magazine, a consultant described her partnership with a local frame shop. They allowed her to hold her workshops in their store with the hopes that they would sell frames. A camera store would also be an excellent choice-they could teach a mini class about digital photography and offer their photo processing kiosk during your class.

You + Dance/Gymnastics studio or children’s gym: Most of these places have a “birthday room” or area with tables. How about a “Scrap and Play” day (mom’s pay to come let their kids play and moms scrap while the kids play) or a kit specializing in gymnastics or dance embellishments?

You + wedding planner/photographer: Offer a special package to new brides to make their books or give them a discount on custom invitations or bridal products

You + the pumpkin patch or tree farm: Put together a kit about picking a pumpkin or Christmas tree. Most places have a gift shop. Give a portion of the proceeds to the farm.

Once you start thinking, there are tons of ideas for partnering with another business! Make sure it’s a win-win situation to plan an event with another business, then sit back and watch your customer base grow!
sell excess wedding stuff

In today’s world of rushing from a meeting to softball game to a PTA meeting, people tend to forget to eat properly. Lack of proper nutrients in the diet can cause fatigue, irritability and illness. Many doctors recommend vitamin supplements to help with these conditions.

Univera Life Sciences was founded by YunHo Lee, a Korean businessman who suffered poor health until he tried a natural remedy suggested by a friend of his. From there he began to experiment with ethnobotanical formulas and discovered the formula that became the basis of his company. Teaming with Stuart Ochiltree, the former CEO of direct sales for Avon, Univera Life Sciences was born. Offering natural vitamins and fruit drinks, the company is supported by the ECONET family of companies, all dedicated to researching human renewal. The company runs a non-profit charitable organization called Univera Serve First, which provides vitamins and supplements to undernourished children around the world.

The company offers a unique line of vitamin and mineral supplements made from natural ingredients such as green tea and rare mushrooms called Cordyceps sinensis. These products help promote mental clarity and focus, manage stress, and joint comfort and flexibility.

They also offer revitalizing drinks made with natural ingredients like aloe pulp and licorice root. Each product page is laid out on the website with development and serving size information for those customers who must watch their carbohydrate and sugar intake. Univera Life Sciences also has a small line of pet health products and other gifts. Prices for the products are on the shopping list page and seem high compared to similar products that could be purchased at places such as GNC.

Interested prospects can become a Univera Life Sciences associate in one of three ways. They can start out by enrolling as a customer, using the product themselves and then telling their friends and families of the benefits they have received. The Advantage Customer Program allows you to earn points with every order placed.

These points can then be used to redeem free merchandise. Associates enrolling in this plan will also receive exclusive educational information and special promotions. The third option is to become a full associate by signing up for a monthly convenience plan, purchasing the associate kit and selecting the gifting packs you want to use. The associate starter kit is $40.00 and can be obtained by contacting the company. The F.A.Q. section on the website has all of the contact information a prospective associate needs as well as additional answers to common questions.

With the advent of different vitamin companies appearing, Univera Life Sciences products may not be all that unique. If a prospective associate is interested in building their business, the numerous options to start their business is a helpful one, especially if the consumer/associate earns free points for more product.

The product price may deter some customers and an associate should be knowledgeable of the product so that they can recommend the proper items if people have special needs. As the website does not cover training aspects of being an associate, it is unknown if an associate will receive any training or require any special education.

premium wordpress themes

Networking has many perks and advantages that appeal to almost all industries and professions. Regardless of your work schedule, career path, academic path or networking commitment, working individuals can find several ways to stay in the networking loop. Networking is not just restricted to entrepreneurs, professionals or students. School Teachers can also use networking to build professional and social relationships with their colleagues and bosses, parents of their students as well as family and friends.

Listed below are helpful tips which School Teachers can quickly use to network like business pros!

School Events and Functions

We all know that School Teachers lead business lives and can be overworked and overstressed. So naturally, networking or building professional and social relationships may be desired but hard to achieve with the demands and workloads. A great way to off set that and take advantage of opportunities is to start networking at school events and functions. Come armed with business cards at the next PTA meeting, school fundraiser or sporting event. PTA meetings are excellent ways to network and meet the parents or guardians of the students. Asking a few questions, making a few connections and following up will definitely expand your network and encourage growing relationships. Networking is not just restricted to the parents or guardians of the students, but also reach out to sponsors, partners, vendors, volunteers and associates of the school.

Teacher Associations

Take advantage of local and national teacher associations, groups and organizations. It is an excellent way to develop professionally, get a break from the kids and broaden your horizons. Going to conferences, meetings and gatherings can be an excellent way to find out new information, link up with colleagues and gain resources for teaching and for your students. Also, consider traveling as a way to expand your network and meet people outside of your community. School Teachers can schedule trips during school breaks or low teaching seasons during the semester. There are so many opportunities and chances to learn as well as teach others, share experiences and excel in your profession.

Online Networking

Another good way to stay connected and develop relationships and skills is to network with other teachers on the internet. Look up teacher groups on popular social and business networking websites and connect with others. It is an excellent way to meet people without having to impose on your daily schedule and routine. School Teachers can network online after hours, on the weekends, on holidays or on vacation. This type of social and business networking can bring unity and support to all participating parties as well as increase awareness of issues within your profession and industry.
About the Author:

As a professional school photographer, I often get asked by principals for good fundraiser ideas. Many schools are looking for fundraising ideas and sometimes ask their photographer for help. I looked at many fundraising programs and found that a Childrens Art offers a great way to raise money for your organization. People may not realize that fundraising is a task typically tackled by the parents. With my experience in the marketplace, I have seen countless fundraising ideas. When choosing a fundraiser, schools have to decide to go with the tried and true product sales approach or to look at some new ideas.

Here are a few reasons why Childrens Art fundraisers are a great fundraising ideas for your organization.

Unlike traditional fundraisers, there is NO work for the parents!

Childrens Art fundraisers do not feel like work to the parents. Parents are constantly being asked to sell something to raise money for their schools. What happens with most fundraisers is that the parents are the ones doing all of the work. Many times, parents feel like they are being “put out”, or they feel like they are being asked to do too much work.

School fundraisers should not put children in danger.

With a Childrens Art fundraiser, there is no danger to the kids. Many times, kids are asked to sell door to door. Childrens Art fundraisers prevent any students from selling door-to-door or selling to strangers. There are considerably more benefits with an art based fundraiser when compared to a sales based fundraiser.

Art Based School Fundraisers Boost Kids Self Esteem

With art based fundraisers, kids get to express their creativity. An art based PTA or school fundraiser encourages students to explore and express their imagination. Art based fundraisers, every child is an artist and every piece of artwork is a masterpiece. With many programs, every child’s artwork is produced on a custom proof. This allows parents to see artwork from their child and to purchase custom keepsakes created from artwork done by their own children. Kids get to see that their artwork is worthy of being displayed on a custom product. Even if parents do not purchase an item, these programs allow kids to keep their custom proof. Traditional PTA or school fundraisers cannot offer this, only an art based school fundraiser can.

These are the reasons that childrens art fundraisers are such great school fundraising ideas, many parents do not even realize it is a fundraiser and the kids have fun doing it!
personalized favors
