I am wanting to take on a few extra children in addition to my own during the day. I’m currently a SAHM, and have been for two years. Now that my child is getting a little older the added income would be nice. I need a reputable place on the internet to post a resume and all of my information for parents interested in leaving their children in a home setting. Does anyone know of any? Also, I need a good place to start with forms and handbook helpfuls. Any information/assitance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much.

Why don’t you go talk to your local welfare office, childcare devision. A case worker there can tell you everything you need to do and how to do it. You will need to register with them as well because they will be doing periodic inspections to make sure you are running your business up to code, so to speak. So my reccomendation is to go there first, they will get you on the right path. Good luck!

Firstly, start by checking into certification requirements thru your locale child welfare office. If you live near a military installation, they often have thier own programs for Home Care, so check w/their support offices. That way you can get your info out in a more controlled environment.
Then, check w/you landlord if you are renting, and get renter’s insurance w/a home daycare endorsement. Or if you own your home, check w/your Home Owners Ins. Many companies don’t cover this kind of liability and you will need it.
You can do a lot in terms of advertising. You could take out an ad in the local newspaper, put up fliers at church, gyms or supermarkets. That is how I found my daycare provider. Also, make business cards on the computer. That way, if you overhear someone discussing childcare needs when you are out, you can hand them your card and let them know you are a provider.
