I'm a SAHM, and sleep based on my son's schedule, and feel lucky I don't have to wake him up for day care, school, etc. I love that he can sleep however his body tells him to, not based on a schedule. Anyway, he sleeps from about 8:30PM to 8 or 8:30 AM. I go to bed around midnight and don't get up until he does.

I stay at home with my 15 month old daughter and she wakes up usually between 7:30 and 8:00am. I put her down at 8:00 pm. I had a friend who did the same thing as you (because her hubby worked the graveyard shift) and what she told me was that her son was a mess all day because he would be up so late. Of course he was sleeping until noon the next day but he still had a hard time. Plus she told me that it was hard for them to do anything because they got up so late. Obviously do what is best for your family. But if you could get him on a more coventional schedule, then he wont have a hard time adjusting when he needs to go to bed and get up early for preschool.

My son is 16 months old. He goes to bed at 7:45PM (I don't know why he chose that time..7:30 is too early and by 8:00 he's passed out!) and he's up by 6:00AM. If I'm really lucky he'll sleep to 6:30. I've tried to put him to bed later but he actually wakes up earlier! If he doesn't go to sleep by 8:00, he's up by 5:30 the next day.

My son goes to bed at 11:30pm. I don't go to bed until around 2-3 am. We both get up at 11:30am. He is 29 months old. Our schedule used to be like yours but like you I felt like we were wasting the whole day. We both feel a bit better now that we get up at 11:30. :) Do what you feel is best for your baby. :)

I stay home with my daughter during the day and I work at night when my husband gets home. I still consider myself a SAHM since she is not in daycare or anything.

I try to keep her on a good schedule although it may change from time to time depending if we are out visiting or she managed to have a late nap in the car causing her to be up later than usual at night.

Typically she goes to bed around 8:30 every night and wakes up around 8-9am in the morning. I never get up earlier than she gets up because I LOVE my sleep and I am NOT a morning person. She is my alarm clock and I have never had to set it since shes been born. When she goes to bed around 8:30pm, I use that time for myself; shower, dishes, tv, reading, etc...I don't end up going to bed until 1am-2am in the morning and I have to force myself to go to bed because I am a night owl.

If my husband worked late like yours, I wouldn't stay awake to wait up for him because I know I have to be up with my daughter and there is no way I would keep her up till 3 or 4 in the morning.
